    VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK AT THE SHADY GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH EACH EVENING FROM 6:30 TO 8:30 P.M. FOR CHILDREN AGES FOUR THROUGH 18 AND AT THE SHIRLEY FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH FROM TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY EACH EVENING FROM SIX TO EIGHT FOR CHILDREN IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH SIXTH GRADE.

    THE SECOND ANNUAL HARVEST PAGEANT AND PICNIC IN THE PARK WILL SATURDAY, AUGUST 16TH IN THE MORGAN PARK IN CLINTON BEGINNING AT FOUR P.M. THE PAGEANT IS OPEN TO ALL CHILDREN DRESSED IN THEIR BEST COUNTRY OUTFIT. DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FRIDAY, AUGUST FIRST. PICK UP QUESTIONNAIRE AND REGISTRATION AT THE DIRTY FARMERS COMMUNITY MARKET AT 364 MAIN STREET.

    SHADY GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH WILL HOST A COMMUNITY SINGING ON SATURDAY, AUGUST SECOND WITH A POTLUCK BEGINNING AT SIX AND MUSIC AT SEVEN. THIS WILL BE A FUNDRAISER FOR A SHIRLEY SOPHOMORE WITH STAGE IV HODGKIN'S LYMPHOMA. DONATIONS WILL BE COLLECTED.

    THE UNITED WAY OF VAN BUREN COUNTY WILL STUFF THE BUS AGAIN THIS YEAR ON SATURDAY, AUGUST SECOND. UNITED WAY WILL BE AT WAL-MART COLLECTING SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR CHILDREN IN VAN BUREN COUNTY. A FEW OF THE ITEMS NEEDED INCLUDE ART PADS, BOOK COVERS, RULERS, ERASERS, SCISSORS, GLUE, CONSTRUCTION PAPER, CRAYONS, TOOTHBRUSHES, SOCKS, AND BAND AIDS.

    SCHOOL BEGINS IN AUGUST. AS WE PREPARE TO BEGIN ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR, LETíS REMEMBER THOSE CHILDREN WHO MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH. EXTEND A HAND, OFFER WHAT YOU CAN, AND ALWAYS KEEP GOOD THOUGHTS FOR OUR CHILDREN.
